Our Founder + Guide, Jes Williams, has been practicing yoga since 2004. She started her journey at Baron Baptiste’s studio in Boston where she fell in love with the heat and strength of the sequence. Moving away from Boston and bouncing from coast to coast, yoga kept Jes grounded through life’s many challenges.
She completed her first 200-hour RYT from Dhyana Yoga in Philadelphia in 2012 with the inspirational Diana + John Vitarelli. She continued her studies with teacher and friend, Lisa Murray at Yoga Community in 2013-2014. This 2nd training focused on the eight-fold path of Raja Yoga. Her personal practice and teachings range from a powerful Ashtanga based vinyasa to the inner practices of Raja.
In 2015, Jes studied with the inspiring Jane Austin, who focuses on prenatal and postnatal health and wellness. Jes is certified through her school, Mama Tree, and highly recommends to any woman thinking about being a mama, pregnant, or already a mama to learn from Jane!
With a little one at home and understanding the value of whole-body health, Jes studied to become a health coach in 2016. In addition to teaching yoga, she began working with mothers on their nutrition and loving their bodies from the inside out.
In March 2018 Jes wrapped up her 500-hour program with YogaWorks and joined their team of teachers from August 2018 to March 2020. This training was invaluable and a turning point for Jes’s teachings. Her mentors for that training were Christy Brown, Michele Klink, Sarah Ezrin and Erika Trice.
As her teaching career progressed, she, like many yoga teachers, got a bit lost in the asana and was looking to deepen her teachings for herself and for all her students. In 2020, Jes completed Ashley Turner’s 300 hour Yoga Psychology program online. This program moulds together yoga, meditation, and psychology and is centered on holistic mental health.
During the pandemic of 2020 - 2021, Jes was thrown many curveballs just like everyone else. She experienced a personal loss and was put in a couple of traumatic situations. At the end of 2021, her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. Her mother is a warrior and she will make it. But this put a different perspective on everything for Jes. Now understanding the body’s wisdom and the true importance of nutrition, she began looking for the best refresher on whole-body health, Jes will be graduating from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in July 2022.
Jes hopes to make yoga and nutrition accessible and fun for everyone she comes in contact with. She now resides and teaches in Sonoma County, California and beyond. Through Yoga Alliance, she is an ERYT 200 // RYT 500 // YACEP // RPYT 90 and a certified Holistic Health Coach. She teaches yoga classes, workshops, and one on one health coaching sessions, as well as guides teachers on the business of yoga.
